Veterans in Sefton was proud to celebrate Armed Forces Day with a very special BBQ in the wonderful grounds of the Brunswick Youth and Community Centre — affectionately known to so many local people as “the Brunny.”
The event was a tremendous success, bringing together 104 people for an afternoon of good food, friendship and community spirit. Among those attending were 44 veterans and dependants, alongside many local residents and members of the different community groups that regularly use the Brunny for their activities.
Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day provides an important opportunity to recognise the service, sacrifice and contribution of our Armed Forces community. However, the day was about much more than recognition alone. It was about bringing people together, strengthening friendships and ensuring that veterans, their families and the wider community feel connected and supported.

It was also fantastic to welcome many of our valued partner organisations, whose attendance demonstrated their continued support for Veterans in Sefton and the people we serve. Strong partnerships are essential to our work, helping us provide the right support at the right time and ensuring that nobody is left to face their challenges alone.
Thanks
We would like to offer our sincere thanks to Keith Lloyd, Centre Manager at the Brunswick, and his brilliant team for all their hard work and help in making the event such a success. Their support, hospitality and commitment to the local community are always greatly appreciated.

A very special thank-you must also go to the team at Sovini for generously funding the event. Their support enabled us to bring veterans, dependants, partners and members of the community together for a memorable celebration in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Finally, we would like to thank our dedicated Veterans in Sefton staff and volunteers, everyone who helped with the preparations and cooking, and every person who came along and contributed to the fantastic atmosphere. Events like this demonstrate the very best of our Armed Forces and local communities — people looking out for one another, sharing experiences and building lasting connections.
